Introduction
PEHCHAN is a non profitable, non commercial voluntary organization dedicated the welfare of the Physically &Mentally Retarded Children . It has been registered under the H.P Society registration Act, 2006 ( No 25,of 2006).
The PEHCHAN had a very humble beginning in a rented building near centre school at Hamirpur. It begins its fight for human dignity on April 2015, with 7 children. The institute operates a day care and non residential centre for boys and girls with Mental Disability. It is strive for the welfare of the children with Mentally Retarded by training them to be self reliant and socially productive and to
transform the disability of the Mentally retarded children into ability so as to try for their substainability in the society both
economically and socially.
Nature of the Institution
PEHCHAN organization set up with the objective of helping children with development disability like Mental Retardation , Learning
disability , Autism , Down Syndrome & Slow learning etc. It provides care & special education to children with Mental retardation and other development disorder .These children with basic life skills & fundamental concepts that will help them function as independent as possible as a day to day basis .Students are introduced to concept such as time , money , color ,and trained in dressing , personal hygienic, eating and so on .The motive of the PEHCHAN is to create & provide education infrastructure for the mentally disable
children to assist them in normal development & attain inclusive education . The entire process shall instill a confidence among these children to face life with courage & confidence in the society
Objective
The main objectives of the Pehchan are :
- To undertake activities for the education rehabilitation of children with disability.
- To undertake programme and activities for the upliftment of socially, educationally and economically backward section of society in general and scheduled castes and scheduled tribes in particular.
- To develop appropriate appliances and learning & teaching material for disabled.
- To start implement and promote programme that is related with environment and health sanitation, education etc by providing know how financial support, man power or any other form of support.
- To run day care centre for children and training centre for benefit of disabled children in the society.
Infrastructure
PEHCHAN institute is running a non residential school in rented building at Hamirpur . PEHCHAN is enriched with the combination of modern infrastructure facilities and qualified staff in its services modules with.
We also being maintained in hygienic environment. It also has ramp to move up and down with in the building. Keeping the importance of a barrier free environment and also the difficulties over children might encounter in the outside environment. PEHCHAN has provided one classroom, one activity room, one kitchen and one toilet. We have tried to provide transport facility to the children by picking and droping them from their homes
Future Plannings
- To organize camps on educating children with Mentally Retarded Children
- To create awareness and acceptance of Mentally Retarded Children among the normal children.
- Develop social competence among retarded children.
- To organize various training programme for the parents.
- To take up awareness campaign among the community.
- To create awareness in public about the causes prevention, rehabilitation of Mentally Retarded Children.
- To develop physical, social and intellectual abilities.
- To conduct health program, such as Medical camp, blood donation, Pulse Polio.
- To provide specialized and technical education to under privileged children also in the form of computer education.
